Survival Tip No. 6; Weapons Part 1 – Around the home

In Ireland, a long with a lot of Europe, firearms and melee weapons are of rare occurrence to find lying around for use in defense. To get the most of your survival whether it be hunting an animal or fending off an attack, the right tools for the job is essential. We will now look at what is possible to find in most households useful for protection.

Knives

Household knives are useful but will only get you so far, against a human threat they may act as disincentive for attack but up against a wild animal only trained usage of them may be enough to save you from a nasty fate. They are often very small and short and require precision in their use. Best left to being a tool for making the dinner with.

Molotov Cocktail

Time to use the last of that Christmas brandy. The application of a fuse such as a small piece of cloth and a decent through will set an enemy ablaze with ease. Beware though, these are highly volatile and could cause damage to you or your own property.

Poles and Rods

You never really liked those curtains anyway did you? Curtain poles, or even a sharpened tip of a brush handle are basic weapons useful for pushing some distance between you and an attacker. However once again they require precision thrust to do any damage and a misplaced jab may result in a bad ending for you.
